German show jumper Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst, who placed ninth in the 2005 FEI World Cup Final in Las Vegas, is now united with Paul Schockemoehle as his first assistant.

Pollmann-Schweckhorst will relocate with his family from Warstein to Muehlen, Germany, and work in Schockemoehole`s show jumping barn and also assist with the management of his Lewitz stud farm, which has nearly 3,000 horses.

The 42 year old rider said it will be a great challenge and a great honor. "Paul`s plan is that when he cannot take care of the business affairs that his empire does not break into pieces," said Pollmann-Schweckhorst.

In addition to the equestrian complex and stud farm, Schockemoehle, 61, also has other enterprises, including a transport company, and he is the managing director of the Riders` Tour Company.

Pollmann-Schweckhorst previously worked for Schockemoehle in the late 1980`s and early `90`s at Muehlen, and this time Pollmann-Schweckhorst will return with his wife Simone and two daughters Lena, 12, and Charlotte, 4.

"I want to leave all affairs in an orderly manner at Warstein. It has been quite a difficult decision for me if I should accept the offer of Paul or not", he said. "I have been self-employeed for the past 10 years, and for six years I have been working and living at the Warstein Equestrian Center. I get along very well with the people here, and last weekend when we had our international CSI here, I really realized how much they have identified with me and how sad they are that I am going to leave now."

In his new position, Pollmann-Schweckhorst will be self-employeed, too, at least at the start. "I will move my whole enterprise, APS Springsport Company, to Muehlen, and I have asked three of my employees to come with me."

Pollmann-Schweckhorst will also take his top horses, including Candy and Paparazzi, which are owned by Hans-Helmut Bauer.

In addition to continuing his riding career, the No. 36 ranked rider in the world hopes to give his own career a boost and move higher in the world rankings through additional horses from Schockemoehle.

"In the next years I will concentrate on my own career besides managing the barn at Muehlen," he said. "In the long run it`s planned that I will get more and more involved in the breeding matters at the stud farm at Lewitz. I will be responsible for the selection of the dams and sires as well as selecting which offsprng will come to Muehlen to be trained and later sold there."

Pollmann-Schweckhorst, who grew up on a farm and is from a family of horse breeders, is pleased to be stepping into that capacity as well. "So far, I have not been much involved in breeding, but, yes, it`s a great feeling if you can choose from so many mares and sires to find the right combination of bloodlines," he said.
